Dakota Middle School Theatre and Addition
Project Overview
When it came time to renovate and add new features to the historic Dakota Middle School, Scull Construction knew that preserving the historical integrity of the building would be a top priority, and proceeded to take great care in doing so. The project included major renovation to much of the facility and a four-story addition off the southwest corner of the building. The 1937 Theatre has received a completely new stage area, a more spacious and comfortable viewing area, updated heating and cooling systems, and a functional backstage support space. The project was a collaboration of Rapid City Area Schools, Rapid City Performing Arts Coalition, and the City of Rapid City.
