IHS Oyate Health Care Center

Project Overview

Indian Health Services teamed with a group of design and construction professionals to construct a beautiful new health care center in Rapid City, and they did it in an untraditional way. The IHS used a delivery method called Design-Build to streamline and expediate the process. Scull Construction Service teamed with Flintco Construction to provide Design-Build Services to the 208,000sf facility and 3-year campus project.

The Health Center includes a radiology and imaging department, a pediatrics clinic, diabetics clinic, dental clinic, urgent care clinic, lab, and pharmacy. The impressive site provides ample parking and movement infrastructure, a solar panel array, and a commercial loading dock area protected by a 20’-tall retaining wall.

The facility was constructed on IHS’s existing Sioux San site with minimal site operations disruption. The team also purchased and coordinated installation of full FFE and Medical Equipment to provide IHS with a true turn-key facility. Scull Construction provided 62% of field staff and is a major contributor on this joint venture project.
