South Dakota State Veterans Home

Project Overview

Scull Construction’s ability to work within a very specific budget was a key factor in the State of South Dakota’s decision to bring us in as the CMAR on the new South Dakota Veterans Home. Initially started by another construction firm, the project was unfortunately running $10 million dollars over budget at the time we were contacted. There were several obstacles standing in the way, including an extremely rocky site that required blasting. Nonetheless, Scull Construction was able to complete the project in a timely manner, while also coming in under budget. The new facility includes assisted living spaces, nursing areas and a medical clinic to meet the many health needs of the residents. The home also features an expanded, high-tech kitchen, library, multi-purpose room, and screening room for movies and entertainment. Back of house amenities include a boiler plant, laundry services, and service corridors. This new facility is already adding a great amount of value to the resident’s quality of life, and Scull Construction is proud to have had a part in making that vision a reality.
